LC's newest line, Paper Crown, is nothing short of adorable. Reminicent of the designer's own soft and feminine style, the Paper Crown lookbook is filled with comfy, breezy fabrics that I just wanna swim in. Our favorite SoCal girl proves once and for all that simplicity is king.

The face is no exception to the color blocking trend this season.
This natural look with orange pop is pretty much perfection. Need to try the orange out, does it work for redheads?!

LILLY PULITZER

It must be the sorority girl in me to even follow Lilly Pulitzer, but how great is this tufted ottoman?! Pining for  the all white fabric, and lift the top to reveal the real treasure...shoe holders and room for any other accessories that might need hiding. #love

If you were lucky enough to discover H&M's Conscious Escape tent during downtime at Coachella, you were blessed with cool air, fresh water and a peek at H&M's Conscious Collection which became availble to the public April 14. The all white collection focuses on sustainability and the use of green materials like organic cotton, Tencel, and recycled polyester. Some of my favorite looks:

TAKE ME BACK TO THE DESERT

Coachella 2011: Success. Between beautiful music and beautiful people, I've come back inspired! Bring out the craft kits.

Fashion is always half (or more) of the fun at alt festivals and with celebs, tastemakers and trend forecasters all mingling amongst the crowds, its no secret that Coachella holds a see and be seen mentality.

This year the fields were filled with bandeaus and high-waisted bottoms of all sorts. Denim cutoffs were ever present and maxi skirts got a nice second wind for Spring. Some of my favorite trends of the weekend included tribal prints, breezy fabrics, and of course, retro inspirations.

One of the best-dressed performers of the weekend had to be Kanye exemplifying all three trends with this amaze Celine blouse from the Spring 2011 line. Which means, HI, it's a womens top...love uni-sex styling! So guilty myself.

This Natalia Kills track has been getting a lot of remix hype from the likes of Peace Treaty, but the video pretty much makes the original just as glorious. And those DSQUARED vertabrae heels...yowza <3

Interested to see the kind of awareness that will come out of this documentary. Ravers should take a cue from Insomniac, safety should be everyone's number one goal.

DAY O' PREP

Posted by Melissa Carpenter | Posted in , , | Posted on 2:40 PM

Today I'm a busy little bee at home getting things together for the next two crazy weekends! I'm pack, pack, packing my life away (once again) before I head out tomorrow to set up for Zeta Tau Alpha Fraternity's West Coast Zeta Day, then meet up with Dani for Retail Camp Saturday and Sunday. And well, you should know what the following weekend end is by now...Coachellaaaaaa.

Before I leave on my ever so often mini trips, I have a habit of overhauling my living spaces so they're picture perfect and welcoming upon my returns home. My only problem with this process is my tendency to bounce back and forth between projects- cleaning and packing at the same time never quite jives, everything seemed to get jumbled in the shuffle. Awhile ago I started hanging all my pieces to be packed across my door frame, out of the way of the cleaning piles, and easy accessibility to add items as I found them. It's saved a lot of confusion and since I just gather the items into a garment bag, a lot of wrinkles!

Lastly, here's a little quick and yummy recipe to keep you fueled between travels. It's become my go-to snack attack and if little ol' undomestic me can whip it up, anyone can! Enjoy on its own or layer into yogurt..mmm

Dried Berry and Walnut Granola
3 cups dry oatmeal
1 cup dried fruit
1 cup walnuts
1 tablespoon vanilla
1 tablespoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup brown sugar
1 cup maple syrup

IF I HAVE TO GIVE IN TO COLOR...

Finally back from Havasu and while I would have loved to compile a worst dressed list of all those poor college girls, I'll leave with you something I actually worked on while I was out there. Writing is so much easier with a nice drink in your hand! I'll probably be rocking one of these for a day of Coachella, or heck, all three, it's just so darn easy!
