Electric Daisy Carnival

The weekend of June 26th and 27th saw thousands flock to the University of Southern California's Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum in one of the largest display of PLUR (and drug overdoses) imaginable for Insomniac Event's Electric Daisy Carnival. I have purposely put off writing about this event to fully analyze and reflect on my weekend spent amongst the kandi kids and self-proclaimed "e-tards," and what I've discorvered was beyond the motherload of all parties.

I expected the awe to wear off after about a month, yet here I sit, passionate as ever, anytime someone brings up the weekend. Never did I expect to be among the sea of faces, filling the field of an entire stadium. Being packed against countless bodies allowed for a alot of time in your own head, and over the course of the weekend I learned things about myself, my family, and strangers for that matter, that I would have never been able to pin-point in my regular environment.

I can honestly say that I think everyone should experience "a party" at least once in their life. Open minds and open arms are a refreshing change to the streets of LA. The love is intoxicating, the beats unifying and the atmosphere addicitve. I would say that the feelings are fast fading over this long summer, but I'd just be lying. B. Chun, a million thanks.
Graduation season has officially begun. BB Q's, grad dinners, and house parties are in full swing in the area, and as quite the party hostess myself, I can't help but comment on these backyard bashes. The focus of these celebrations is the graduate and their successes so I will leave out my critique on what they would normally be lacking.

My focus, in turn, will be extending the important lesson in chic socializing that these parties do, in surprise, achieve. And that, mesdames et messiers, is the key of maximizing a great guest list. A good party is never limited to one social circle or group of people. Successful soirees prove so because of the hosting party's ability to match and mismatch invitees.

Take for example, a similar lesson in Greek life. The best of these parties are not hosted by any one fraternity. This automatically limits the amount and type of guys allowed entrance. The best parties are thus thrown by the women on campus. This allows more than one fraternity to co-habitat for the evening, making the normal party attendance (at minimum) triple in size. You'll notice at these house parties, that the men of each fraternity mingle with those they may have otherwise never met, and even, *shocker* enjoy one another's company.

Pulling party-goers out of their natural environments inspires them to push boundaries of their comfort zones, similarly challenging their social skills. Party scene regulars get tired of seeing the same faces, and a revolving-door of guests is sure to be the cure. The best equations seem to end in a delicate balance of drama and satisfaction.

I started this blog with the intentions of covering parties I attend, to strike up a mini socialite career, mainly to avoid growing up for a little while longer. I will graduate from college exactly four days after this post is published. And to be honest, I'm simply not ready to go. To paint you a better picture, I'm a sorority girl, and I'm good at what I do.

Through my preliminary research for this blog has come self-discovery. While I do love a good party, I have come to realize that, yes, there is more out there. And unlike your average party girl, I'm inspired to find it. Owning a boutique, starting a non-profit, and contributing to Vogue are all in the gameplan.

As a realist, I recognize what it takes to get there, as well as the odds standing against me. But if college has taught me anything, its the importance of using your resources; playing your strong suits. It's all about what and who you know...and if there's one thing I know best, it's socializing. I have 22 years of experience, after all.

I have big plans, and it should come as no surprise from my confident tone that I usually get what I want. Daddy has no aide in these plans, but I don't think it should be a problem. I'm a strong believer that if you want something bad enough, you'll figure out a way to attain it.

So while I long for the days when success comes easy, for now, I'll stick to what I know and that's how to have a good time.

Meet me at the club. It's going down.

... And while you're seeing double, I'll be seeing red and writing about it.
