The only thing that could psych me up further for Coachella would probably be a guest appearance by this guy. I don't know about you, but I'm a big fan of false hope.

Check out Kid Cudi x Band of Horses "The Prayer"
“Kids now a days, I really don’t understand. They don’t dance no more, they just pump their fists in the air, like they’re really, really mad at the disco ball or something. Just chill. Let your body move to the funky groove. Kids now a days, they go the club expecting a heavy metal show. But dance music, is music you’re supposed to dance to. You’re not supposed to stand in front of the DJ, waiting to be saved. Cause in the club, nobody can save you but yourself. I know times are hard and you’re probably pissed at your parents, your job, your wife, or your own life, but you don’t have to act like a brainless zombie, pumping that fist, not even knowing what you’re mad at. Not even looking at that stranger standing next to you. The only way, to make your troubles go away, at least for one night, is to let yourself go, and let your body move to the funky groove. We gotta be united if we wanna overcome all that negative energy and forget about all the hard times. We gotta take that stranger by the hand, and dance together. It’s been done, from New York to LA from London to Paris, you can do it, you can feel it, and we can all groove with it.”

"Become the star that you are."
Well now that we're on the topic of Coachella, which we will be (we being me), for at least the next week and a half, here's yet another way for you to score some festival tickets, if you're a slacker, so maybe you can hang out with our new friend John.

CLUBOHOLICS ANNONYMOUS tweeted me after what seems like my 100th mention of Coachella, with the offering of free tix. While the name and tagline (1st Step is to ADMIT the PROBLEM! 2nd step is to be OK with it.... ) are a little whack, the contest appears to be legit! Just creat an account, upload a profile pic, and leave a comment for the event coordinator with your full name and that you want FREE COACHELLA TICKETS. 5 winners of a pair of tickets each, drawing starts April 10th...(that's tomorrow, so hurry and sign up here!)

Help John Go To Coachella!

During Follow Friday today on Twitter, a friend described me as a "social media star on the rise." While I prefer the tag media maven, I can't complain about a #FF shoutout! I love coming across social media campaigns that are both accessible and successful, and this one is sure to work!

Our new friend John, below, has started an event in the hopes of winning a Facebook bet with his boss. A bet with the winnings of an all expense paid Coachella trip, that is. Now as a lover of social media and all things music, I just couldn't ignore his plee, and you better not either!

Help John out on his quest to Coachella, by attending the event here and becoming a fan of SWIRE. See you @ Coachella John!

It's practically summer here in SD now, and that means you'll find me with a 40 in my hand. Of tea...duhhhh.

I am an equal-opportunity texter.

It doesn't matter who you are, immediately, eventually,or brashly, if necessary, I will respond to your first text, 100% of the time. With that being said, I can't understand friends who follow these guidelines but NEVER initiate conversation.

Let's back up a few. I'm an avid texter; my phone is in my hand, in my bag, or by my side at ALL TIMES. (It's 2010 people, don't lie- if you're a part of my generation, I know yours is too.) Everyone I really know and care about, sans 5 people (my family + Rox), are North of the San Diego County line and I just don't get to see them as often as I like. So my substitute and constant form of contact, has always been primarily text.

Now what I CANNOT figure out for the life of me, are the people who, once initiated, will continue to respond per protocol, even for hours, but who NEVER text you first...the "friends" who are awfully nice to you when you do text them, but basically seem to forget about you if you don't.

You can't legitamately be that interested in my day, if you couldn't even think to text me first, right?

I've come to recognize it as a quality of the guy you're dating, or rather, NOT dating. But other than that, you got me. Are they simply following my rule of always texting back? If so, and they don't actually want to talk, why do they CONTINUE to respond? Do they think they're doing you a favor? Are they bored? And if so, why didn't they think to text you first, in their boredom? The world and I may never really know. But you'll often hear me refer to these people as "fake friends." And "fake friends," friends, are generally a waste of your texts.
ohhhh now i'm in a mood...

...there are few things i love more than Lords of Dogtown. It just DOESN'T get any better than 70's beach culture, Heath Ledger & Emile Hirsch. Ever influential to skateboarding, and style.

My favorite kind of compliment: "You make me wanna go shopping."
Don't worry your pretty little heads about how I found this, just be thankful that I did.
Another stunner out of SD, PASHAIKO =) Enjoy!

Havasu version 2.0 was too much of a reality break for me. I've come back dazed and confused, not just from working and partying my ass off, but from calculating and forecasting in my typical, over-analytical MC way. I was given a lot of advice over the course of the weekend, and what I've decided to take from it, can be summed up in this.

Jump in. Take risks. Go big. And challenge yourself, EVERYDAY. Grow up along the way

...no one is Peter Pan.
